I just got done with about 4 days worth of anthropology videos, articles, and chapters. Along with the hallucinogenic tribal drugs, this was my favorite bit of knowledge I picked up:

This is a picture from the northern tip of Baffin Island when I went narwhal hunting with some Inuit people. Ant this man told me a marvelous story of his grandfather. The Canadian government has not always been kind to the Inuit people. And during the 1950s, to establish her sovereignty, Canada forced them into settlements.

This man’s grandfather refused to go. The family, fearful for his life, took away all of his weapons, all of his tools. Now, you must understand that the Inuit do not fear the cold. They took advantage of it. The runners of their sleds were originally made of fish wrapped in caribou hide. So this man’s grandfather was not intimidated by the Arctic night or the blizzard that was blowing. He simply slipped out side, pulled down his sealskin trousers, and defecated into his hand. As the feces began to freeze, he shaped it into the form of a blade. He put a spray of saliva on the shit knife and as it finally froze solid, he butchered a dog with it. He skinned the dog and improvised a harness, took the rib cage of the dog and improvised a sled, harnessed up an adjacent dog and disappeared over the ice flows, shit knife in belt. Talk about getting by with nothing….

If you're frightened of dying, and you're holding on, you'll see devils tearing your life away. But if you've made your peace, then the devils are really angels, freeing you from the Earth.

Down the Rabbit Hole

But when the rabbit actually took a watch out of its waistcoat pocket, and looked at it, and then hurried on, Alice started to her feet, for it flashed across her mind that she had never before seen a rabbit with either a waistcoat-pocket, or a watch to take out of it, and burning with curiosity, she ran across the field after it, and was just in time to see it pop down a large rabbit hole under the hedge.
In another moment down went Alice after it, never once considering how in the world she was going to get out again.

If you don't know where you're going, any road will take you there )

Don't be afraid if you are on my friend's list, but we aren't familiar with each other, or you stumble upon this a long time after it was posted. It's really cool, I promise.

Either write this on a piece of paper or type it in the comments right after you read each question. Don't over think it. Some of your answers might come out strange.

Fill out:

Favorite Color or the first one that comes to mind, if you don't have one, & 5 adjectives describing it (i.e. yellow is energetic, red is passionate, etc)

Favorite Animal or the first one that comes to mind, if you don't have one, & 5 adjectives
describing it (i.e. tigers are fierce, dogs are loyal, etc)

Favorite water source or the first one that comes to mind, if you don't have one, & 5 adjectives describing it (i.e. oceans are peaceful, rivers are fast, etc)

Now, Imagine you're in a small, dark room. There are no windows and no doors. On the opposite wall, a light is coming from a small hole. What's your reaction to this?

Submit it and I'll tell you what each thing means. I've screened the comments to prevent it from being ruined, and if you don't want people to know what you say.

Btw it was made by Freud, so it's some-what scientifically accurate.

Just waking up in the morning gotta thank god
I dont know but today seems kinda odd
No barking from the dogs, no smog
And momma cooked a breakfast with no hog
I got my grub on, but didnt pig out
Finally got a call from a girl wanna dig out
Hooked it up on later as I hit the do
Thinking will I live, another twenty-fo
I gotta go cause I got me a drop top
And if I hit the switch, I can make the ass drop
Had to stop at a red light
Looking in my mirror not a jacker in sight
And everything is alright
I got a beep from kim and she can fuck all night
Called up the homies and Im askin yall
Which court, are yall playin basketball?
Get me on the court and Im trouble
Last week fucked around and got a triple double
Freaking brothers everyway like m.j.
I cant believe, today was a good day

Drove to the pad and hit the showers
Didnt even get no static from the cowards
Cause just yesterday them fools tried to blast me
Saw the police and they rolled right past me
No flexin, didnt even look in a niggaz direction
As I ran the intersection
Went to $hort dogs house, they was watchin yo! mtv raps
Whats the haps on the craps
Shake em up, shake em up, shake em up, shake em
Roll em in a circle of niggaz and watch me break em
With the seven, seven-eleven, seven-eleven
Seven even back do joe
I picked up the cash flow
Then we played bones, and Im yellin domino
And now I am yelling dominoes
Plus nobody I know got killed in south central l.a.
Today was a good day

Left my niggaz house paid
Picked up a girl been tryin to fuck since the twelve grade
Its ironic, I had the brew she had the chronic
The lakers beat the supersonics
I felt on the big fat fanny
Pulled out the jammy, and killed the punanny
And my dick runs deep so deep so deep
Put her ass to sleep
Woke her up around one
She didnt hesitate, to call ice cube the top gun
Drove her to the pad and Im coasting
Took another sip of the potion hit the three-wheel motion
I was glad everything had worked out
Dropped her ass off, then I chirped out
Today was like one of those fly dreams
Didnt even see a berry flashing those high beams
No helicopter looking for a murder
Two in the morning got the fat burger
Even saw the lights of the goodyear blimp
And it read ice cubes a pimp
Drunk as hell but no throwing up
Half way home and my pager still blowing up
Today I didnt even have to use my a.k.
I got to say it was a good day.

I want you to know
one thing.

You know how this is:
if I look
at the crystal moon, at the red branch
of the slow autumn at my window,
if I touch
near the fire
the impalpable ash
or the wrinkled body of the log,
everything carries me to you,
as if everything that exists,
aromas, light, metals,
were little boats
that sail
toward those isles of yours that wait for me.

Well, now,
if little by little you stop loving me
I shall stop loving you little by little.

If suddenly
you forget me
do not look for me,
for I shall already have forgotten you.

If you think it long and mad,
the wind of banners
that passes through my life,
and you decide
to leave me at the shore
of the heart where I have roots,
remember
that on that day,
at that hour,
I shall lift my arms
and my roots will set off
to seek another land.

But
if each day,
each hour,
you feel that you are destined for me
with implacable sweetness,
if each day a flower
climbs up to your lips to seek me,
ah my love, ah my own,
in me all that fire is repeated,
in me nothing is extinguished or forgotten,
my love feeds on your love, beloved,
and as long as you live it will be in your arms
without leaving mine.

If You Forget Me-Pablo Neruda

A new ad by UNICEF Germany sees white kids smearing their faces with mud to show solidarity with African kids without access to education. One kid says: "I'm waiting for my last day in school. Children in Africa are waiting for their first one." Another says: "In Africa, kids don't come to school late, they don't go at all."
